Master's Message December 2022

Brethren,

It's hard to believe we're already planning the December meeting. Ever since we returned to lodge from the summer break, we've been talking about the Rusty Apron event to be held at the November meeting. If you weren't there you should have been. Let me fill you in: To start with we hosted St Paul's #14 for a joint meeting as it was our official DDGM visitation. Joint meetings between our two lodges are a smart idea because our monthly meetings are held on the same night. On this night we had nearly 70 Master Masons in attendance for the meeting and at least 55 had reservations for dinner.

RW DDGM Eric Grist and his marshal W John Kent entered Adelphoi lodge at 7:30 accompanied by a distinguished suite of the past masters from both lodges. A few minutes later MWGM Bob Palazzo surprised us all by entering the lodge and quickly joined both Worshipful masters and the DDGM in the east.

After appropriate greetings to the GM, RWDGM Doug Grant took to the podium and delivered the program of the evening. It consisted of a complete review and correction of the basic things we think we know in the first three degrees of freemasonry. There was a question-and-answer period afterward and I believe everyone in attendance learned something that they will take back to their own lodges.

Before the lodge was closed in form by MW Palazzo, I was honored to give Adelphoi pins to 17 first time visitors.

This amazing evening of freemasonry was punctuated by an outstanding collation provided by St Paul's lodge #14. Dessert consisted of a custom decorated sheet cake and many delicious homemade pies that W Charles O'Hara of St Paul's #14 is widely known for. Fraternity and brotherhood extended late into the evening just like the old days. This was truly an exceptional night and Adelphoi Lodge #33 and St Paul's lodge #14 are both committed to continuing this most successful tradition whenever our DDGM comes to town.

As you can see good things are happening at Adelphoi and our December meeting promises yet another interesting program. Brother Ryan McCauley has been doing a lot of research as he prepares his presentation of the complete history of Adelphoi Lodge #33.

You won't want to miss that.

Fraternally,
W:. Bill Gervais
